Springfield Public Schools has certified seven of the eight initial candidates' bids to appear in the April Board of Education election.
The seats held by incumbents Scott Crise, board vice president; Danielle Kincaid, board president; and Dr. Maryam Mohammadkhani are up for vote on April 2. Eight candidates, including the three incumbents, filed paperwork for the seats last month.
The candidates slated to appear on the April ballot are:
• Crise, manager of gas plant operations for Associated Electric Cooperative Inc.
• Kincaid, partner at The Elder Law Group LLC.
• Landon McCarter, co-founder of Secure Agent Marketing.
• Mohammadkhani, a retired pathologist.
• Susan Provance, a retired teacher and coach.
• Chad Rollins, chief pharmacist for HealthDirect Pharmacy Services.
• Kyler Sherman-Wilkins, associate professor of sociology at Missouri State University.
Charity Jordan Rex, a prevention education coordinator at Harmony House, did not meet the minimum requirement of 500 verified registered voter signatures, said Tammi Harrington, SPS board secretary.
Plaza Shopping Center gained an arcade with the March 1 opening of The Flying Lap LLC; the repurposing of space operated by Burrell Behavioral Health resulted in the March 18 opening of the company’s second autism center; and a group of downtown business owners teamed up to reopen J.O.B. Public House.
