Jody Dow, Executive Director of The Springfield Dream Center, says her coworkers can usually tell when she’s getting emotionally worn down. Dow says they keep a folder full of their clients’ photos and stories and she uses this story bucket to rejuvenate herself so she can help others. “I’ll even look for a specific story, like this person is failing right now which makes us feel like we’re failing that person. So I’m going to go remind myself of the growth they have had, and I’m going to take a minute to reset and then I’m going to go back to that person and remind them. Nope, here’s what we’re capable of,” says Dow. Use past victories to inspire future success.
