Former car wash to make way for pet care business

Posted online

The site of a shuttered car wash is slated to make way for a new pet care business.

Businessperson Jamie Tillman said she's targeting a late fall opening for her new venture called Paws and Claws.

"We will have boarding, daycare, a cat lounge and offer basic baths," Tillman said. "I've always had a love for animals, but it was a friend of mine that really opened my eyes to the idea of starting a doggy daycare."

Tillman recently purchased the site, home to a shuttered Ye Olde Buggy Bath car wash, at 204 W. Plainview Road, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

Tillman said she is taking on the renovation work estimated at a cost of $1 million.

Once opened, Paws and Claws would have eight to 10 employees, she said.
