- - When searching for an assisted living community for your loved one, we want to make sure that it meets their personality and their personal needs. Here are four questions that I encourage you to ask.

Question one is, "What kind of services does your community provide?" There's really two levels in the area of services that can be given within assisted living. Americare is an all-inclusive community, which means all of their care needs are going to be provided at one cost. You're not going to have to pay care service charges, as some other communities charge, for everything that they would need, such as housekeeping, medication management, et cetera. We're gonna take care of that all for you as an all-inclusive community.

Second question I get asked a lot is, "How can my mom still remain independent?" Our goal is for them to be as independent as they possibly can, as long as it's safe for them to do that. We want to make sure that they come in, they don't socially isolate themselves, which may have been happening at home. We want to engage them into activities, get them involved in the community through our social clubs that we have. It's really important to let them know that they can maintain their independence as long as it's safe for them to do that, and we really encourage that through our activity program.

The third question I get asked is, "How do I know my mom will be safe?" Well, we're going to provide her here at Americare a safe environment. It is not a nursing home. It is an environment, it's very homelike and very engaged activities that we participate in. She's gonna be safe within her own environment, meaning we're gonna take care of her needs, we're gonna meet her needs, and we're going to instill in her that she can still remain independent and be here and enjoy the activities that we have.

So, the fourth question is always talking about our activity program. Here at Americare, we never charge for loved ones to come and eat lunch or dinner with their family member when they're here. That involves a one-on-one activity for them, can be part of our family and our family values. We have an extensive activity program because our goal is to include them to not only help them with their physical wellness but also their spiritual wellness, their emotional wellness, their environmental wellness.

So, we go through what's called a seven dimensions of wellness program. All of those areas are touched every week and every day with our residents. Some may participate, some may not, and that is their choice as being independent is we allow them to have those choices.
