Project description: An O’Reilly Auto Parts retail store is now under construction in Nixa. The store – to be Nixa’s second location, with the first at 250 W. Mount Vernon St. – is visible just to the east of the city’s main drag, North Massey Boulevard/U.S. Highway 160 on State Highway CC. The auto parts chain is also at work on a larger store in Springfield at the intersection of Cox and Battlefield roads, and like it, the Nixa store is constructed of a standard concrete masonry shell with a preengineered metal building installed inside. The publicly traded, Springfield-based company (Nasdaq: ORLY) was established in 1957 and supplies equipment, tools, parts and accessories to professional service providers and do-it-yourself customers from more than 6,000 stores, with 84,000 employees across the United States, including Puerto Rico, and Mexico, according to the company website.
Plaza Shopping Center gained an arcade with the March 1 opening of The Flying Lap LLC; the repurposing of space operated by Burrell Behavioral Health resulted in the March 18 opening of the company’s second autism center; and a group of downtown business owners teamed up to reopen J.O.B. Public House.
