Two new no-cost training courses are available at Ozarks Technical Community College this summer.

The college announced in a news release it would offer short-term training courses in information technology and entry-level computer numerical machining.

The IT boot camp course runs 10 weeks, May 31-Aug. 9 at the Robert W. Plaster Center for Advanced Manufacturing. A Missouri Scholarship and Loan Foundation grant is covering costs for the five-credit-hour course.

The fundamentals of CNC operation course would teach students skills and knowledge necessary for an entry-level position in the machining industry. Students can earn one credit hour for the two-week course, and expenses are covered by Gene Haas Foundation scholarships.

OTC spokesperson Mark Miller said one person has signed up for the IT course, which has a capacity of six students. The capacity for the CNC course is 16, and four have signed up, he said.
