The Springfield-based Vote 417 group has endorsed three Springfield Public Schools Board of Education candidates.
The endorsements are for Scott Crise, Danielle Kincaid and Susan Provance, according to a news release. Formed in late 2021, Vote 417 was created to advocate for pro-voting rights candidates and causes and to educate the public about voting rights and practices, Springfield Business Journal previously reported.
“Danielle Kincaid has shown calm and steady leadership in her role as board president, and Scott Crise has been a fair broker and a crucial swing vote in disagreements between differing factions on the board,” said Dennis Pyle, Vote 417 president, in the release. "Susan Provance has an extraordinary track record at Springfield Public Schools, from her time as a student to her three-plus decades as an educator. She will be an excellent addition.”
Kincaid currently serves as board president and Crise is vice president. Provance is running in her first school board election.
The candidates slated to appear on the April 2 ballot are, in alphabetical order:
• Crise, incumbent, manager of gas plant operations for Associated Electric Cooperative Inc.
• Kincaid, incumbent, partner at The Elder Law Group LLC.
• Landon McCarter, co-founder of Secure Agent Marketing.
• Dr. Maryam Mohammadkhani, incumbent, retired pathologist.
• Provance, retired teacher and coach.
• Chad Rollins, chief pharmacist for HealthDirect Pharmacy Services.
• Kyler Sherman-Wilkins, associate professor of sociology at Missouri State University.
The newly formed United Springfield political action committee in January also endorsed Crise, Kincaid and Provance for the SPS board, according to past reporting.
The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce discontinued endorsements of school board candidates prior to the 2023 election, SBJ previously reported.
Plaza Shopping Center gained an arcade with the March 1 opening of The Flying Lap LLC; the repurposing of space operated by Burrell Behavioral Health resulted in the March 18 opening of the company’s second autism center; and a group of downtown business owners teamed up to reopen J.O.B. Public House.

If you care about the future of Springfield, and believe that a strong, nonpartisan school board is essential, you will vote for Kincaid, Provance, and either Sherman-Wilkins or Crise.
