Crossland Construction

A Passion for Building

Posted online

Crossland Construction Company project superintendent Bobby Shires has construction in his bones. He started building things at age 18 and hasn’t stopped. He’s been a construction superintendent for more than 20 years and has spent nearly the last five of those years at Crossland.

Though he’s been in the construction game a long time, Shires says working for Crossland is different. “The backup we get and the resources that we have for any given project are unparalleled,” he said. He also mentioned that Crossland is a very family-oriented company. Shires noted that management at Crossland takes family and vacation time seriously. “We make time for that,” said Shires, who just returned from vacation with wife Carrie Shires who is administrative assistant at Crossland.

Every day is different for Shires but the overarching theme to his job is making sure everything gets done the right way the first time, in a timely manner and on budget for the client. Currently he’s overseeing the construction of the Betty and Bobby Allison Sports Town Complex, an indoor/outdoor venue covering 82 acres near the Springfield-Branson National Airport which features 12 outdoor professionally maintained sports fields, a 94,000 sq. ft. indoor facility with spaces for basketball, volleyball and soccer, and dedicated spaces for parties and meetings.

About Crossland Construction Company

Crossland Construction has been involved in numerous projects in Springfield throughout its 40 years. Other notable Crossland projects in the region include the O’Reilly Automotive home office in Springfield, the Aquarium at the Boardwalk in Branson, and the Arkansas Music Pavilion and the Bass Pro Cabelas renovation, both in Rogers, Arkansas.

Founded by Ivan Crossland in 1977, Crossland Construction was established in the tightly knit small town of Columbus, Kansas, where community engagement and neighborly compassion are cornerstones. The company has always actively sought out opportunities to serve those around them. Opening its doors in 2019, Crossland’s Springfield branch was the company’s ninth addition to the firm.

Crossland Construction Company has grown substantially over the years, and in 2021 supported 3,000 employees and generated revenue of $840M. Having a Springfield office provides Crossland clients with the best of both worlds - the local, personalized service affiliated with a smaller company, backed by the resources and expertise of one of the largest construction companies in the country.
