Missouri State University has a new head football coach in place a week after parting ways with Dave Steckel.
The university is scheduled tomorrow morning to formally announce Bobby Petrino as head coach of the Bears football team, according to a news release.
Petrino will serve as MSU’s 21st head football coach. He most recently coached the University of Louisville Cardinals but was fired from that position in November, after the team lost its seventh game in a row, according to an ESPN report. ESPN also previously reported he was fired as coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2012 for hiring his mistress.
He has a career record of 119-56 in 14 seasons with stints at the University of Arkansas, Western Kentucky University and Louisville, according to the release.
He succeeds Steckel, aka coach Stec, who entered a separation agreement with MSU last week. Steckel is slated to receive a maximum buyout of $340,000 through 2022.
MSU Assistant Athletics Director Rick Kindhart declined to disclose the contract terms for Petrino, noting they would be released as part of tomorrow’s announcement.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
