Chamber to honor two business leaders with annual awards

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce is recognizing two women in business with annual leadership awards.

Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association Executive Director Crista Hogan is slated to receive the Athena Award, and Efactory Director Rachel Anderson was selected for the Virginia Fry Rising Star Award, according to a news release. The honorees were nominated by the public and selected by an independent panel of judges from dozens of nominees.

“Once again this year, our judges had a difficult decision from a very strong pool of nominees, and it’s clear that they’ve made excellent choices,” chamber President Matt Morrow said in the release. “These two community leaders are exceptional examples of the qualities embodied by these awards."

Hogan has led the local bar association since 2001. She's also executive director of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Foundation, which addresses needs of access to justice and public understanding of the legal system, and she's on the boards of myriad legal organizations.

The Athena Award honors businesspeople and leaders who have attained professional excellence and served the community, while also actively assisting other women in their achievements, according to the release.

The Efactory's Anderson has more than 15 years of leadership and management experience. She co-founded networking organization Rosie, and she's involved with organizations such as the Greater Ozarks Centers for Advanced Professional Studies.

Named after late attorney Virginia Fry, the award recognizes emerging leaders and mentors who are 40 years old or younger, according to the release.

Last year, CoxHealth's Karen Kramer received the Athena Award, and Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield's Brandy Harris secured the Virginia Fry Rising Star Award.

This year's awards ceremony is scheduled March 10 at the White River Conference Center, according to the release.
