Children's Miracle Network Hospitals

Change Kids’ Health, Change the Future

Posted online

Their name says it and their work proves it, there are miracles happening every day at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals). Since 1983, CMN Hospitals has raised more than $7 billion—most of it $1 at a time—for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada. In the Ozarks those donations purchase life-saving equipment, and improve access and the standard of care for local children with medical needs. CMN Hospitals helps pediatric patients with all illnesses and injuries, and routinely assists children with cancer, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy, prematurity, and those involved in accidents.

Since 1986, your local CMN Hospital at CoxHealth has cared for thousands of children with medical needs across a 32-county service area in southwest Missouri and north central Arkansas, and assists families with everything from wheelchairs, leg braces and prescription medication to travel expenses for out-of-town appointments and assistance with CoxHealth hospital bills. The organization also offers grants to assist with physical, speech and occupational therapies and helps families obtain specialty medical equipment. In addition, CMN Hospitals funds the C.A.R.E. Mobile, which provides primary care, physicals and immunizations to local children.

Dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the medical care of children, birth through age 18, prevention is also a priority for CMN Hospitals at CoxHealth. The organization funds a variety of educational programs to prevent injury and illness including Wasted, an anti-drinking and driving campaign; Never Shake a Baby, to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome; CARDIAC Kids, a program that identifies children at risk for developing heart disease or diabetes and teaches them how to live healthy; as well as programs related to car seat, water and bicycle safety.

“We work to be a resource and provide help for children and families,” CMN Hospitals Executive Director Tim Siebert said. “Because CoxHealth underwrites our administrative costs, 100% of the  donations and proceeds we collect help children right here in the Ozarks.”

CMN Hospitals operates under the mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible. Siebert and his team work tirelessly with local businesses and organizations and take advantage of numerous fundraising opportunities to help raise much needed support for local children suffering with illnesses and injuries. Funding is raised from special events, grants from foundations, and support from businesses, organizations and individuals.  People can also help local children with medical needs by making CMN Hospitals a beneficiary in their estate plans.

“Everything we do, we do for the kids. We want the businesses we partner with to prosper and grow as well.” Siebert concluded. “We want to help create strong, vibrant communities that enhance our quality of life in the Ozarks.”
