China reports bubonic plague case

China announced a suspected positive case of bubonic plague in the Inner Mongolia region.

Media reports indicate a farmer was sickened and hospitalized. However, the individual reportedly is now in stable condition.

Officials in Bayannur, Inner Mongolia, raised its alert level for plague illness. Residents are being told not to hunt wild animals and to report people who are showing signs of infection.
