Don’t Assume Employees Share Your Vision

Posted online

“A lot of times I would just assume that they would know what I expected of them, or what I had in mind,” says Lauren Brown, Co-owner of Neighbor’s Mill Bakery and Cafe. Brown says she initially had to learn how to manage and communicate with her managers. Setting clear expectations, communicate her vision, and not make assumptions that her employees knew what she wanted. “You can’t just assume that once you’ve hired someone, they’re going to be onboard and know what’s going on,” Brown says. Brown is a Springfield Business Journal 2019 40 Under 40 honoree.
