Employee Input Equals Exponential Growth

Posted online

Paddio, headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, opened in August 2020 with a crew of 20 and just over a year later has grown to more than 140 employees with no signs of a slowdown. It is a sister brand of Veterans United, which was named by Forbes as the No. 1 place to work in Missouri and one of America’s Best Employers in 2020.

Paddio’s purpose is to make the home loan process faster and simpler.

Culture

The culture at Paddio is one of hard work, care and purpose and is based on three employee-created values:

• Be passionate and have fun.

• Deliver results with integrity.

• Enhance lives every day.

The Paddio team is built of people who intentionally live these values both in and out of work. Sometimes that culture appears as Paddio T-shirts and hats, a team lunch in the courtyard or a ping pong tournament in the game room, but that’s not all. Between those fun moments, the team is a hard-working group of individuals who are motivated to make their clients’ dreams of homeownership become a reality.

Social Conscience

It’s important to Paddio as a whole and to each employee to enhance the lives of those in the community. Over 90% of Paddio employees elect to donate 1% of their paycheck to the company’s charitable arm, Veterans United Foundation. Since its founding in 2011, Veterans United and Paddio employees have given over $100 million to the Veterans United Foundation. Most recently in September 2021, Paddio was honored to support the work of the United Way of the Ozarks with a donation of $20,000 to the Veterans Emergency Assistance Fund. Additionally, Paddio sponsored the biannual United Way Day of Caring and over 50 employees volunteered at different organizations in and around Springfield.

“Coming from the nonprofit sector to working at Paddio, having opportunities to give back and be involved with the community were priorities for me. I specifically asked about this in my interview and was pleased to learn that those were values the company also held,” said loan officer Jacob Showalter, NMLS #2074897. “Group volunteering opportunities pop up frequently, and Paddio even gives us PTO to participate.”

Why Join the Team?

The Paddio team is the best reflection of what it’s like to work at Paddio. The company’s greatest recruitment source is when current employees refer their friends, family and connections to work at Paddio.

“It’s such a natural process as our people really enjoy being at Paddio, collaborating with each other and enhancing the lives of homebuyers,” said Ellen Young, human resources specialist. “When you love where you work, you want to tell people about it, and that’s what we’ve seen happen during our recruitment efforts at Paddio. “

Additionally, recruiters work with candidates during the application process to make sure they will be in a position that fits their skill set. All new employees receive extensive training when they start, which not only prepares them to be successful in their role but also builds unity and relationships among team members.

It’s not necessary to have a financial or mortgage background to join the team at Paddio. In fact, the staff is made up of people who come from diverse career backgrounds, such as teaching, real estate, construction management, fitness training and restaurant management just to name a few.
