Greene County's wages rose by 4.2% during the second quarter, according to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The average resident in the county earned $943 per week during the three-month period, according to a news release.
By percentage growth in second-quarter wages, Greene County ranked No. 126 nationally. It was second in Missouri only to Clay County, which saw its wages grow by 4.6%.
Missouri's largest counties, ranked by second-quarter percent increase and wage growth rank nationally, are as follows:
• Clay County, $1,004, up 4.6%, No. 107;
• Greene County, $943, up 4.2%, No. 126;
• St. Louis County, $1,266, up 3.7%, No. 155;
• St. Charles, $988, up 3.5%, No. 162;
• St. Louis City (which operates as its own county): $1,291, up 3.9%, No. 144;
• Jackson County, $1,183, up 2.4%, No. 212; and
• Boone County, $999, up 0.8%, No. 281.
Greene was among 339 of the largest counties in the country that posted an average weekly wage increase in the second quarter compared with a year earlier, according to the release. Nationwide, second-quarter average weekly wages were up 4.5% to $1,241.
