Thomas Douglas, President of JMark Business Solutions, says when you’re running a small business, you have to learn to discern between good sources of revenue and clients who steal your energy. Though he hates to lose the client, Douglas says sometimes you have to realize when a partnership isn’t worth the effort. “We make much more intentional choices in today’s world about who we work with and identifying are they a partner or are they an energy thief. And if it’s an energy thief, we can recognize that earlier now and bow out when we’re in the sales process and say, ‘thanks, but no thanks,’” Douglas says. Douglas is a 2019 Springfield Business Journal Trusted Adviser honoree.
