In follow-up report, Galloway 'encouraged' by Forsyth's progress

Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway said she's "encouraged" by the city of Forsyth's progress following a critical audit earlier this year.

Galloway this morning released comments in a news release upon the issuance of a follow-up report on the earlier audit findings.

The audit, which had the worst possible rank of "poor," found more than $1,400 was missing from the city's vault and another $2,000 in utility deposits were received but not deposited by the former utility clerk.

The follow-up report indicates the city is working with Taney County law enforcement and prosecutors on criminal prosecution, according to the release. The city also has taken action to keep collected money secure.

"I am encouraged that after our audit uncovered these serious concerns, Forsyth officials have taken action to better protect taxpayer dollars, and I urge them to finish implementing the remaining recommendations," Galloway said in the release. "This is another instance of our audits getting results."
