The Missouri Job Center is temporarily transitioning to appointment-only status.
Job Center spokesperson Katherine Trombetta said the state Office of Workforce Development issued guidance in an attempt to mitigate COVID-19 exposure risks among Job Center customers and staff members.
The appointment-only change takes effect Nov. 20 and is slated to last at least through year's end, according to a news release.
“We are still here to serve our customers, just in a different way,” said Sally Payne, interim director of Workforce Development for the city of Springfield, in the release. “Customers may call the Job Center and book a same-day appointment over the phone or visit our Facebook page to request an appointment."
In the local region, the Job Center has two Springfield offices and a location in Branson. Trombetta said the Ozark Region of the Job Center serves Greene, Christian, Polk, Dallas, Webster, Taney and Stone counties, providing job assistance, training and education.
The Job Center office at 2900 E. Sunshine St. in late May became the first to reopen statewide after a temporary closure brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. In August, the Job Center's north-side office relocated to The Fairbanks from the Cox North Medical Tower.
The state experienced more than 30,000 new COVID-19 cases for the week ended Nov. 15, according to the latest data posted to Missouri's Show Me Strong Recovery Plan website.
