The state's unemployment rate posted another decrease.
In May, the Show-Me State's seasonally adjusted jobless rate was 3.1%, according to a news release from the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center. That's down from 3.4% in April, 3.6% in March and 3.7% in February, according to past reporting.
Missouri's nonfarm payroll employment was down by 3,100 jobs compared with a revised April figure.
In May, trade, transportation and utilities were down by 5,100 jobs, with leisure and hospitality falling by 2,400 positions, according to the release. Decreases were partially offset by increases in manufacturing, which was up by 1,800 jobs, and mining, logging and construction, up 200.
Payroll employment in Missouri increased by 71,800 jobs in May compared with the same month of 2021.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
