Mercy Springfield Communities on July 31 opened a physical therapy center in the Magers Crossing development in south Springfield.
The 2100 W. Republic Road outpatient location is the first physical therapy center in a retail setting for Mercy, said spokesperson Sonya Kullmann. It's also the first stand-alone physical therapy space for the health system locally, she said.
“This facility not only provides our patients with a new, convenient location, it also comes with expanded hours to accommodate those who need early morning or evening appointments,” said Mark Huslig, the new clinic's manager, in a news release, referring to its 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday schedule and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. schedule on Fridays.
Kullmann said Mercy invested roughly $51,000 into infill and startup costs for the center. She said the center fills 1,800 square feet of newly constructed retail space.
The clinic will focus on orthopedic rehabilitation and is staffed by four physical therapists and a physical therapy assistant, according to the release.
Mercy also operates a co-branded urgent care clinic in partnership with Atlanta-based GoHealth Urgent Care, an affiliate of Access Clinical Partners LLC, at 2150 W. Republic Road in Magers Crossing. Kullmann said the new physical therapy center is a few doors down from the urgent care clinic.
