Miller Commerce: Reinventing senior living

Posted online

What happens when you bring together more than 50 of Springfield’s brightest civic leaders, healthcare
strategists and entrepreneurs around the topic of innovation in senior living?

The answer is this: groundbreaking concepts that are positioning Springfield, Missouri as a leading
destination for senior housing development. The ideation from this inaugural “Think Tank”, which was organized and facilitated by Matt Miller of Miller Commerce, is now being brought to fruition in myriad ways at his senior living developments.
Miller Commerce has long been on the
leading edge of the “aging in place” movement, first with the development and
introduction of Turners Rock. The offerings at Turners Rock adjust to residents’
evolving needs, aligning with Miller Commerce’s foundational belief to be there every step of the way. This revolutionary concept allows for residents to live comfortably at the same facility through every season of their aging journey. When it comes to amenities, Turners Rock approaches aging as a celebration, with resort-style offerings such as a rooftop bar, social deck, movie theater and more.

Along with Turners Rock, Tera Vera and The Villas at Anthony Park, Mission Ridge is an exciting new lifestyle-centered senior community from Miller Commerce. Currently under construction, Mission Ridge exudes a modern farmhouse aesthetic while still boasting numerous state-of-the-art amenities. Given the timely concerns surrounding seniors in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team at Miller Commerce strategized for how to create a safer environment at Mission Ridge. They designed new ways for loved ones to visit, better ventilation systems and easier accessibility. This strategy now informs every facility that Miller develops.

Through a unique partnership with Phoenix Home Care, several of Miller Commerce’s senior living communities, like Turners Rock, offer wellness programs and on-site nurse practitioners. These are amenities that would historically be reserved for high-skilled nursing facilities but are available at select Miller Commerce communities. This service is not only for residents who may have pre-existing conditions, but for any resident who desires to stay ahead of future health problems. Miller Commerce also partners with other senior-focused entities such as Senior Age to ensure residents have access to the care and services they need, to live the lifestyle they want.

All Miller Commerce communities, whether designed for students, seniors or anyone in between, are intentionally and thoughtfully based around lifestyle. While each development is different, forward-thinking design is the common thread.
