Missouri Senate passes education savings account bill

The Missouri Senate last week approved a bill that would establish scholarship accounts to pay for such costs as private school tuition.

The legislation, which heads to Gov. Mike Parson’s desk, would establish the Missouri Empowerment Scholarship Accounts Program. Residents through the program would be able to receive a tax credit for donating to certain educational assistance organizations.

The bill reportedly is favored by school-choice advocates.
