While Missouri's unemployment rate held steady in August, nonfarm payroll ranks were down month to month.
The state's seasonally adjusted jobless rate last month was unchanged at 2.5% compared with July, according to a news release from the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center.
The stagnant rate follows two straight months of the unemployment rate hitting lows in the Missouri data series that began in 1976, according to past reporting.
During August, the state's nonfarm payroll employment figure dropped by 5,700 jobs from the revised July tally, according to the release.
Among industries with job losses were mining, logging and construction, down 1,400, and manufacturing, down 1,200.
