Missouri State University was chosen to receive a nearly $1 million federal workforce development grant.
MSU is slated to receive $960,000 through the U.S. Department of Labor’s partnership with the Delta Regional Authority’s Delta Workforce Program, according to a news release from the office of Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Missouri. Blunt has worked to include funding since 2018 in the Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities grant initiative.
“Workforce development programs are an invaluable tool for helping people get the skills they need to earn a good living, take care of their families and get ahead,” Blunt said in the release. “The Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities program is creating more opportunities by providing reemployment and training assistance in areas where they’re needed most."
The grant assistance is available to institutions that work to provide career training and support services to underserved areas, according to the DOL's website.
Blunt also announced a $1.4 million grant for Marquette Tech District Foundation Inc. and $1.2 million for the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corp.
