Oil and gas producers Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. and Cimarex Energy Co. announced plans to merge.
The combined company would be worth approximately $17 billion.
Cimarex shareholders will own about 50.5% of the combined company, with Cabot shareholders owning the remainder.
