Report: At least 59K meat workers contracted COVID-19 last year

At least 59,000 meatpacking workers contracted COVID-19 in the first year of the pandemic, according to a U.S. House subcommittee report.

The report, a compilation of documents from five major meat conglomerates, indicates at least 269 of the workers died between March 2020 and February this year.

The internal documents came from JBS, Tyson, Smithfield Foods Inc., Cargill Inc. and National Beef Inc.
