Report: Kanye West hasn't taken the steps to run for president

Rapper Kanye West on Saturday tweeted he's running for president of the United States this year.

However, a CNN report indicates he has not taken the necessary steps to do so. He still needs to register with the Federal Election Commission, present a campaign platform and collect enough signatures to appear on the November ballot. And in many states, he's already missed the deadline to file as an independent candidate.

West's tweet came days after he teased a new song and announced an album titled, "God's Country."
