Royals business exec to retire

Kevin Uhlich, the Kansas City Royals' senior vice president of business operations, is slated to retire at month's end.

The 63-year-old joined the Royals in November 2006. He's had a 44-year career in Major League Baseball, including his previous role as senior vice president of business operations for the Angels in California.

Uhlich is credited with leading the $275 million renovation of Kauffman Stadium, the home of the Royals. He'll stay on in an advisory role as special assistant to Chairman and CEO John Sherman.
