SBJ announces 11th class of Health Care Champions

Posted online

Springfield Business Journal continues its tradition of honoring health care professionals in the Springfield area during November’s Health Care Champions awards event.

An independent panel of judges selected the recipients for the honor of Top Doctor, and chose additional professionals in four other fields: administrator, nurse, technician and therapist. The company awards are for Corporate Wellness Program of the Year and Provider of the Year. New in 2020 is the Long-term Care/Rehabilitation Facility of the Year.

This year’s Top Doctors honors go to Dr. Kendra Morrison, medical director at Mercy Clinic Advanced Ambulatory Care, and Dr. Kayce Morton, pediatric medical director at Jordan Valley Community Health Center and pediatric hospitalist at CoxHealth.

The Provider of the Year goes to Mercy Springfield Communities, City Utilities of Springfield was selected for the Corporate Wellness Program of the Year, and Springfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center was chosen as Long-term Care/Rehabilitation Facility of the Year.

The additional individual Health Care Champions, in alphabetical order, are:

• Administrator: Gwen Beebe, vice president of operations and business development at Phoenix Home Care and Hospice; Dustin Brown, vice president of integration at Burrell Behavioral Health; and Lisa Marshall, director of the Taney County Health Department.

• Nurse: Tessie Bowmaker, nurse manager at CoxHealth Neuro Trauma ICU; Rachel Kutscher, nurse manager at CoxHealth Medical ICU and Coronary Care Unit; and Amber Peters, psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner for Bay Medical Consulting LLC and assistant professor at Cox College.

• Technician: Melissa Briggs, co-owner and tattoo removal and permanent cosmetic technician at DermaHealth Laser & Skin Care Clinic; Kimberly Grissom, histotechnician at Swann Dermatology and Esthetics; and Evin Kolb, medical technologist at Mercy Clinic Laboratory Services.

• Therapist: Leslie Binder, marriage and family therapist at Burrell Behavioral Health; Bonnie Baumberger, licensed professional counselor at Sante; and Amy Clift, speech language pathologist at Mercy Clinic Ear, Nose and Throat.
