Study: Record 5.4M Americans have lost health insurance

A study from nonpartisan consumer advocacy group Families U.S.A. found a record 5.4 million Americans have lost health insurance amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The study measured loss of health insurance between February and May. During that stretch, more adults became uninsured because of job losses than ever before, according to the study.

The highest previous increase was 3.9 million during the recession of 2008 and 2009, according to the report.
