Trump escorted from briefing after shooting near White House

President Donald Trump yesterday was escorted abruptly from a coronavirus briefing.

Trump returned minutes later, when he said there had been a “shooting” outside the White House that was “under control.”

Tom Sullivan, chief of the Secret Service Uniformed Division, said an armed man approach a uniformed Secret Service officer near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. That's just blocks away from the White House.

The man appeared to be about to fire a weapon when the officer shot him, Sullivan said. The suspect has serious or possibly critical injuries, according to the District of Columbia fire department.
