President Donald Trump yesterday signed executive orders banning U.S. transactions with Chinese tech firms ByteDance and Tencent.
Trump cited national security in the orders aimed at ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, and Tencent, which owns Chinese messaging app WeChat.
The ban is slated to take effect in 45 days, when Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross "shall identify the transactions" that are subject to prohibition.
