U.S. private-sector businesses added 749,000 workers last month, according to the ADP National Employment Report.
Large firms with more than 1,000 employees added a net 222,000 workers during September, according to the seasonally adjusted data.
The ADP report released yesterday came two days ahead of the Labor Department's release of the federal monthly jobs report.
