True Engineering Group LLC is the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer for the new Mid-Continent Public Library’s North Oak Branch Library in Kansas City. The branch will be a split-level, 17,700-square-foot building set farther back on the property to create a private setting with framed views of the large glass facade from the entry drive. The interior will feature a vaulted ceiling and natural light. The main entry level will have the circulation desk, seating and a children’s area. The lower level features a teen area, while the upper level has meeting rooms, a community room and seating areas. Administrative offices span all three levels. The $5.6 million project is part of the library system’s Capital Improvement Plan funded by Proposition L. Sapp Design Associates Architects PC and Helix Architecture & Design Inc. (Kansas City) are the project architects, JE Dunn Construction Group Inc. is the general contractor, and Olsson Inc. is the civil and structural engineer. Ochsner Hare and Hare, the Olsson Studio is the landscape architect. The project is expected to wrap in December 2022.
