Longtime Springfield establishment DiGiacinto Italian Restaurant closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now it's on the market.
Nick Russo, owner Sam DiGiacinto’s cousin who is accepting inquiries on the restaurant's sale process, said the 2259 S. Campbell Ave. venture has been closed for about 10 months.
Russo said DiGiacinto had planned to reopen the restaurant as an Italian market concept, but after buying an Airstream recreational vehicle, his plans changed.
"He is currently casually returning from Arizona," Russo said. "In the few days since I posted the sale, I have been overwhelmed with responses."
The sale notice first was posted on Facebook.
He declined to disclose the asking price for the restaurant that served Italian dishes such as lasagna, ravioli, tortellini and chicken marsala. The venture is located in the Camelot Shopping Center.
Sam DiGiacinto started his South Campbell operation in 1985, first as Soup & Sandwich, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
