Bitcoin closes in on record high after ETF starts trading

The price of bitcoin neared a record high after the first U.S. exchange-traded fund for the digital asset started trading.

The digital currency hit $63,522.50, just short of the $64,863.10 high on April 14, when Coinbase went public on the Nasdaq exchange.

A bitcoin ETF run by ProShares under the ticker symbol BITO is now trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
