Branson-based Boys & Girls Club of the Ozarks is expanding its service territory to the city of Crane, about 30 miles southwest of Springfield.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held this morning for a new club at Crane Elementary School, according to a news release. It's slated to open by January 2022.

"We are so thrilled to be able to offer families in the Crane area access to our programs. We know that the Boys & Girls Club helps foster a sense of belonging, positive self-esteem and accomplishment in all kids,” said Stoney Hays, the nonprofit's CEO, in the release.

The club in Crane will serve families with children ages 6-12. The nonprofit plans to serve 100 elementary students in Crane, officials say, and the cost per student is $1,600 per year. Scholarships are available.

Boys & Girls Club of the Ozarks currently serves more than 1,600 youth through clubs in Branson, Forsyth and Reeds Spring, according to the release.
