Creating Employee Loyalty Through Vending

Posted online

With retention and attraction of employeeslisted as one of the greatest challenges facing American companies, keeping employees happy, healthy and feeling appreciated is key to appealing to prospective employees and ensuring low turnover of current employees.

Employee Wellness

Employee wellness is an increasing focus, with employers incentivizing healthy choices like exercising and quitting smoking. Many employers are expanding programs to make those choices easier.

Emily Kinney Carroll, owner of Kinney Vending says on premises vending and food services offered to employees can be an important component of the company wellness plan. “People are looking for more healthy choices,” says Kinney Carroll. “Our micromarkets make offering those choices so much easier than in traditional vending.”

Kinney Carroll says that while traditional cold food vending machines have limited, and not always fresh, offerings, micromarkets store fresh food that the employee can actually see before purchase. “And the products are so much better than in the past,” says Kinney Carroll, citing the addition of things like protein bars and fresh cut fruit.

Employee Appreciation

Showing employees that they are appreciated is another way to encourage loyalty. Kinney Vending’s Reward and Recognize program is an incentivizing and motivational tool companies use in a variety of ways. “If the sales department wants to reward the team for hitting sales targets, we can do that through vending,” says Kinney Carroll. “Manufacturing clients can reward teams for meeting OSHA requirements.”

The recognition doesn’t always have to be tied to work performance. “We also partner with HR departments when they want to recognize employees for milestones or anniversaries or birthdays in a simple but meaningful way.”

“People spend so much of their lives at work,” says Kinney Carroll. “If we can help our clients keep their employees happier and healthier through vending, that’s a win for everyone.”
