Los Angeles-based electric car startup Fisker Inc. reports initial orders for its battery-powered Ocean SUV have topped $300 million.
Production of the vehicles begins in November in Graz, Austria, with the SUVs priced at around $70,000.
Fisker plans to cut into Tesla’s sales by shifting to more affordable vehicles, including a cheaper version of Ocean and a smaller model called Pear that will have a $30,000 price base.
