Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) is one of the Midwest’s largest 100% employee-owned full service heavy civil contractors and is constantly working on a wide variety of infrastructure projects. We take ownership of all that we do, from the quality of our work to our customized approach to project delivery. 
 
Our core values, including putting people first, really shape our approach to everything we do. As an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), our people own the company. The ESS company culture was built on that ownership mindset. Our employee-owners control the company’s success and can reap the rewards that come with it. Investing in the future
Through the ESS Foundation, we’re investing in the next-generation construction workforce. Our goal is to benefit community development projects and create opportunities through scholarships. We’ve successfully awarded more than 68 scholarships in the past five years for students pursuing education opportunities and careers in the construction industry.
 
ESS is also involved in organizations at the local and national level, including Associated Builders and Contractors, Associated General Contractors of America, and the Missouri Asphalt Pavement Association. These community partnerships help us build lasting relationships and advocate for our industry.
 
We’ve built an incredibly successful company by attracting the right people and building the right processes. On top of that, our employee stock ownership plan allows everyone to build wealth and really take control of their own future. In fact, the company announced last month a record-high stock price, a 35% increase over the previous year, which mean all employee-owners received an employer contribution of 20% this year — another record high for the firm.
 
We keep our profits where they belong: with the people who work hard to make ESS successful. Our ESOP is a unique program that brings advantages to our people that other companies simply aren’t able to offer.
