First LIV Golf tourney sees thin crowds

Tickets for the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series event taking place at Trump National Golf Club Friday through Sunday in Bedminster, New Jersey, were being sold online for as little as $1 on brokering site StubHub.com.

Other tickets on the site were available in the $7-$8 range, but some were going for as much as $150.

Golfweek described the crowd as lively, and The New York Times reported “easy camaraderie” among players on the course.

The Saudi-backed tournament, which is attempting to rival the century-old PGA Tour, attracted some high-profile professional golfers, like Phil Mickelson, Henrik Stenson and Dustin Johnson. Stenson won the tournament and claimed a $4 million first prize.
