Project description: Larry Burns of Burns Architecture has been designing Domino’s Pizza restaurants for 30 years – longer than one of the project’s engineers has been alive, as he discovered recently when they were out together on the links. Domino’s restaurants come in three sizes, Burns said, and the building now under construction on South Campbell Avenue is one of the larger designs, with two oversized ovens. “It’s a new-style look for bigger production stores,” Burns said, noting he is working on four similar restaurants in northwest Arkansas for local Domino’s franchisee A&M Pizza. The sign outside the building touts it as an example of the Domino’s “pizza theater” concept, which means indoor seating allows customers to view pies being prepared. Art Hurteau and Marty Prather of A&M Pizza plan to relocate their store on East Republic Road. “The purpose behind it is so we can expand our facility to better service customers with a more convenient drive-thru and ample parking,” said Hurteau.
