Housing demand dropped sharply in June, as rising mortgage rates and inflation caused home prices to cool down.
Prices remain higher than they were a year ago, but the rate of price appreciation fell two percentage points, from 19.3% to 17.3%.
An imbalance between supply and demand are keeping price gains strong. The housing market has had a severe shortage for years, and this was intensified by the coronavirus pandemic.
