A technical problem brought a full-day trading halt to Japan's stock exchanges.
A hardware malfunction occurred and a backup system failed to start, said officials with the Japan Exchange Group.
Trading is slated to continue as normal Friday for the exchanges, including the Nikkei 225 index.
