Justice Department files antitrust lawsuit against Google

The Justice Department yesterday filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google in a move that had long been expected.

The suit alleges Google uses anticompetitive tactics to maintain a monopoly on its search engines and related advertising business.

"If the government does not enforce its antitrust laws to enable competition, we could lose the next wave of innovation," said Deputy U.S. Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen. "If that happens, Americans may never get to see the next Google."
