Ford Motor Co.'s Kansas City assembly plant is staying temporarily closed longer than expected due to a semiconductor chip shortage.
The plant had been scheduled to reopen May 17. Company officials postponed the reopening, saying the plant would be shuttered during the weeks of May 17 and May 24.
Some 7,100 hourly employees work at the plant building transit vans and F-150s.
