KC Southern accepted a sweetened purchase offer from Canadian National Railway Co.
The railway operator previously accepted a bid from Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd.
The new offer from Canadian National Railway is the same financially, with an enterprise value of $33.6 billion. However, Canadian National agreed to reimburse $700 million that KC Southern would owe Canadian Pacific as a breakup fee.
