The founder of MacCheesy’s, a grilled cheese sandwich and macaroni and cheese establishment that opened in Springfield earlier this year, is bringing a new concept to the Queen City.
The Kebab Shack, a Mediterranean-inspired eatery, is targeted to open in November, according to a news release. A location was not provided in the release, and a spokesperson could not be reached for comment by deadline.
"Our aim is to further introduce the Springfield community to the delights of Mediterranean fare with a fun and casual menu of the region’s favorites," said Sherif Magd, owner and founder of The Kebab Shack, in the release.
The restaurant would have a menu that includes shawarmas, kebabs, falafel and salads.
Magd and his wife, Sophia Hamid, brought MacCheesy’s to Springfield this year at James River Towne Center, according to past reporting. Similar to The Kebab Shack, MacCheesy’s in 2022 teased a Springfield restaurant but did not provide a location at the time.

Oh fun! First, an overpriced macaroni restaurant and now we get to look forward to an overpriced kebab. This is exactly what our strained economy needs.
Excited to try this!
