Missouri AG wins Republican nod for Senate

Posted online

Eric Schmitt earned the Republican nomination for the Senate seat being vacated by incumbent Republican Sen. Roy Blunt.

Schmitt, Missouri’s Attorney General, topped a 21-candidate field to win the nomination. He defeated former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens and current U.S. Rep. Vicky Hartzler, the other two frontrunners. Former President Donald Trump had issued a statement endorsing “Eric” in the primary, but did not offer a last name. In addition to Schmitt and Greitens, the field of 21 included a third Eric – Eric McElroy.

Democratic voters chose Trudy Busch Valentine as their candidate.
