Novavax lands $1.6B vaccine contract

The U.S. government awarded American vaccine development company Novavax a $1.6 billion contract.

Novavax is slated to use the funding to cover testing, commercialization and manufacturing of a potential coronavirus vaccine. The goal is to produce 100 million doses by January 2021.

The U.S. government also previously awarded $1.2 billion for AstraZeneca's vaccine, among others.
